Flu vaccination: Who should have it this winter and why

We have a limited number of flu vaccines left for patients aged 65 and over.  If you are in this age group and still require a flu vaccine, please contact the surgery by telephone or email to request an appointment.  Please note that this only applies to patients aged 65 and over!

Please see our information on the Coronavirus thank you

We are aware that some patients might be understandably anxious about the Government's recent announcements around the use of face masks in various public settings.

Gps are unfortunately not in a position to provide individual risk assessments or letters for patients who feel that they should be exempt from wearing a face mask.

Repeat Prescriptions

If you are on long-term medication, this will be entered onto the computer and you will receive a computer slip with a list of the relevant drugs. The slip can be handed into the surgery or posted enclosing a stamped addressed envelope. Please note, two clear working days' notice is required for a repeat prescription. It is your own responsibility to ensure you have adequate stocks of medications. Receptionists are not authorised to vary this procedure.

You can also fax your requests to 01827 713666 or email them to using the form on this website.

Alternatively you can order online via the link at the top of this page. New users are required to complete a simple registration.

Repeat prescriptions cannot be taken over the telephone in case of error.

It would be helpful if patients ordered all their medication at the same time.

If you are a dispensing patient, i.e. you collect your medication from the surgery dispensary, then please hand in your repeat prescription slip to the dispensary and not the reception. If you are unsure as to whether you can get your medication from the dispensary, please ask either at reception or the dispensary and we will be happy to help.

We also now have a brand new In-Practice Pharmacy where no matter what your address or which GP surgery you are registered with, you can now collect your medication.

Dispensary

Our dispensary opened in 1994 to provide a service for patients who live one mile or more from a chemist. The dispensary is open during normal office hours and a dispensing technician will help you with your prescription. Richard or Lesley will be happy to help with any queries you may have.

Our dispensary offers a delivery service. This is for patients who receive their MEDICATION from the surgery. This is a free service provided by the practice. The service can be used as a one off, for example after an operation if you are unable to drive or regularly if you fit the criteria laid down by the partners. If you think you may find this service useful please ask to speak to Richard or Lesley who will be pleased to provide you with more information.

Atherstone In-Practice Pharmacy

Our In-Practice Pharmacy is a 100 hour pharmacy that can pick up urgent and repeat prescriptions from your surgery and deliver to your door FREE of charge 6 days a week no matter what your circumstances. Our service to our patients is unique in the area due to us being located within Atherstone Surgery. Our opening hours are Monday – Saturday 7am -10pm and Sunday 10am - 8pm. Please be aware that ALL patients regardless of address or where they are registered can now use our pharmacy. Of course patients can choose which pharmacy they wish to use and should be aware that the Atherstone In-Practice Pharmacy is owned and operated by the Partners of The Atherstone Surgery. We have a large stock of retail items available and many offers.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
