Travel Vaccinations

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.

There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below:

  • Europe and Russia
  • North America
  • Central America
  • South America
  • Caribbean
  • Africa
  • Middle East
  • Central Asia
  • East Asia
  • Australia and pacific

It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible – at least 6 weeks before you travel – as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.

Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.

If you have booked a travel appointment, please don’t forget to fill out and return to us the below form at least 3 working days prior to your appointment:

Travel Assessment Form (DOCX, 25KB)

Please Note: If you have not sent the completed form to us in time before your Travel appointment, we may not be able to complete your appointment in the allotted time. Thank you.

For patients requiring vaccination certificates for travelling abroad these can be acquired using either the NHS app or our online services. Alternatively for those not signed up to either of these services patients can email the request to our reception team at atherstone.surgery1@nhs.net and our staff will be able to print this off ready for you to collect. (Please remember to include in the email your full name, date of birth and a brief outline of what you are requesting).

Thinking of travelling at the last minute?
Hoping to book a fantastic deal on the internet or a get a bargain at the travel agents?
That would be great but PLEASE REMEMBER WE DO NOT HAVE last minute appointments.
You should attend the surgery at least 6 to 8 weeks before departure. Why not even come to discuss your intended travel plans when you book your annual leave?
